No blocking code or security defect found. The accepted #12921 scope is implemented through bounded Hermes native-local attachment, opaque credential-reference projection, startup refresh, inference switching, rebuild restoration, and compensation. Security review: PASS across command and input handling, authentication and authorization scope, credential and log handling, network and SSRF boundaries, dependency provenance, filesystem and race safety, integrity and serialization, state and recovery behavior, and resource limits. Exact-head core CI, CodeQL, ShellCheck, documentation checks, and the PR Review Advisor passed; all Advisor specialists reported clear.
I am withholding approval pending required current evidence:
- Advisor-required selector:
double-onboard - Required commit:
fec6a13a65a035c80c6a16e908dc372d095e5161 - Result: not run; no exact-head run link exists
- Advisor evidence: https://github.com/NVIDIA/NemoClaw/actions/runs/38930468419
- Main comparison: not applicable because there is no PR failure to compare
- Remaining automation: CodeRabbit and the amd64, arm64, and rootless Podman exact all-agent managed runtime activation jobs are still pending
The prior live E2E evidence targets 621136c and is stale. Please run double-onboard against the current head. Once it passes and the pending automation settles without an actionable finding, this is ready for an approval re-review.

The review comment identifies a real missing module in the copied payload. src/lib/inference/native-provider/contract.ts imports ./custom, but src/lib/inference/native-provider/custom.ts is not copied into the image. The post-copy check-native-credentials.ts execution can therefore fail with ERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND.

Re-reviewed commit 2be64a15ee2e3afd769b7a5dacccab893eba3aed against base f1dcab784d273a56f1adc6292c7336b81fb41767.
Outcome: Comment. I found no new blocking code or security defect in the changes after fec6a13a or in the merge resolutions. Security review remains PASS in all nine categories: secrets and credentials, input validation, authentication and authorization, dependencies, error handling and logging, cryptography and data protection, configuration, security testing, and system security.
The unresolved Dockerfile bot finding is not valid. contract.ts imports custom.ts only with import type, so Node.js type stripping removes that import. The latest PR commit also passed the Hermes image build and direct startup jobs on AMD64 and ARM64.
I cannot approve this commit yet:
- Required CI is failing. The static gate reports that Pi image inputs changed without refreshed AMD64 and ARM64 qualification receipts.
- CLI shard 7 fails at
rebuild-local-provider-recreate.test.ts:198. The new Pi fixture omits the persistedcreatedAtfield, soisPersistedPiSharedLocalInferenceRoutecorrectly rejects it as a legacy shared route. Make the fixture represent a persisted supported Pi route, then rerun CI. - The latest PR Review Advisor result applies to
4ac4fe1f, not this commit. It requires thedouble-onboardE2E selector. No run for2be64a15is attached.
The managed image activation jobs passed for the latest PR commit on AMD64, ARM64, and rootless Podman. Refresh the Pi receipts, repair the Pi rebuild fixture, obtain a current Advisor result, and run its required E2E selectors before approval.

Add a Hermes credential-preservation rebuild case.
The changed test now covers only Pi's generic local-provider recreation path. The Hermes rebuild tests do not observe restored supervisor-issued credential references, and they do not assert that Hermes avoids rebuildProviderReconfigure. Add a Hermes fixture with its native-local attachment, invoke harness.rebuildSandbox, assert the restored credential references through persisted route state, and assert that the generic provider-recreation handoff is absent. Without this case, a Hermes rebuild can lose its credential references or receive the generic recreation handoff while the current tests still pass.

Blocking finding: the exact-commit manual E2E run failed Onboarding: reuses the gateway and preserves sibling sandboxes (podman) / no provider credential. The functional double-onboard phases passed, but cleanup left a test registry entry and failed with registry still contains test entries. Comparison with current main attributes this failure to the candidate. Fix the Podman cleanup or registry-state path, then rerun this selector against the latest PR commit.
The other six selected E2E jobs passed on this commit: Hermes native NVIDIA on Docker and Podman, Hermes Anthropic-compatible on Docker and Podman, Hermes double-onboard on Docker, and OpenClaw double-onboard on Docker.
Security review: PASS across all nine categories.
Non-blocking documentation suggestion: clarify that resume and rebuild reject a Hermes local sandbox that lacks its native attachment. If the E2E repair needs a commit, include this correction. Otherwise, it can be a separate follow-up.

preflight data is valid. Remove the instruction to back up state and recreate

deletes OpenShell sandboxes before public destroy removes any stale registry

Document the supported legacy Hermes recovery path.
Legacy Hermes sandboxes without native attachments retain the shared route. Startup and rebuild do not require a native attachment. The current text incorrectly directs users to back up and recreate these sandboxes.

NemoClaw uses provider-specific local tokens for those routes.
For retained shared local routes, rebuilds migrate away from stale OpenAI credential requirements.

Update the legacy Hermes recovery guidance in the routing documentation: state
that legacy Hermes Ollama, standalone vLLM, llama.cpp, and qualifying host-local
compatible routes without native attachments retain their shared route and can
use normal startup, resume, and rebuild flows when preflight data is valid.
Remove the instruction to back up state and recreate the sandbox with a native

Thanks Prekshi. Making the verify-cleanup destroy fail loudly is the right next step. On 0f38b34bb the ignored destroy failure is what left the registry entry behind, and the fallback deletion hid the cause.
I'm holding approval until ae908e060 has its own evidence. The question that decides this PR is the Podman double-onboard rerun on this commit: does the public destroy pass, and if not, what error does it now report? The PR doesn't modify the destroy code, but it does change onboarding and routing, which could leave state that destroy trips on, so I'd rather see the run than guess. For context, the only other recent Podman run of this case (#13285) failed for an unrelated reason, so it doesn't help attribute this one.
Once CI, Images, the Advisor, and that rerun finish on ae908e060, I'll take another look.

Reviewed commit b2c717ee0aabe3c61c06bd1d3305dcb71b28f870 against base f1dcab784d273a56f1adc6292c7336b81fb41767.
The prior blocking finding is resolved. Stopped-state cleanup now uses the Docker and Podman compatible --volume source:target:nocopy form while retaining resource identity checks and original failure propagation. The Advisor-required double-onboard selector passed on this commit in run 38980150868. The Podman job confirms both public destroys and all registered cleanup callbacks pass. All seven selected E2E cases and required checks passed.
The legacy Hermes recovery documentation now matches the enforced behavior: resume and rebuild reject unattached legacy shared local routes. Security review remains PASS across all nine categories.
I also re-evaluated the unresolved automated threads. The Dockerfile import is type-only and removed at runtime, the Python fall-through paths intentionally return None, and the composed Hermes rebuild fixture is a non-blocking coverage suggestion. No blocking defect remains.
Outcome
Hermes native-local startup, model switching and rebuild use supervisor-issued credential references in all three managed credential slots. Rebuild rebinds restored references through the existing guarded writer while preserving route, user and MCP settings, including strings interpreted differently by YAML 1.1 and 1.2. This PR contains the Hermes slice on canonical main and preserves published history.
Reason
The identityless credential alias cannot express provider ownership. Restoring an archive also replaces fresh configuration with older credential references and integrity anchors, so the ordinary strict writer correctly refuses the required rebind.
Related issues
Refs #12921 and #12558; implements the accepted Hermes slice. Uses the native-local foundation merged in #13203. Parent PR branches remain unchanged; the separate OpenClaw slice merged in #13293 and is preserved by this merge.
Changes
Extend the existing native-local configuration and provider owners to Hermes, checking sandbox, gateway, provider and attachment identities. Preserve canonical DCode behavior and the Local NIM exclusion.
Refresh bounded opaque references in all three managed slots at startup, initial activation, model switching and rebuild. Retain schema validation, exact read digests, compensation, backup retention and readiness checks.
Add an explicit restore mode to the existing configuration transaction. Only the three credential leaves may differ; validated restored inputs become the rollback baseline under the existing lock. Persisted recovery checks source digests and inodes before completing interrupted anchor adoption. Ordinary writes retain strict drift checks, with the authenticated startup transition described below. The real guard regression covers successful adoption, refusals, rollback and interrupted recovery; host transport tests verify the flag and sanitized payload.
Serialize Hermes configuration with YAML 1.1 compatibility. Archive sanitization can produce JSON containing tool_search.enabled as the string "on"; the previous writer emitted bare on, which Python interpreted as true and correctly rejected as an unrelated change. Preserve the value while retaining the strict three-credential-only guard.
Carry the validated sandbox agent into the existing switch-verification probe so local requests use their recorded endpoint. Report the selected Hermes native-local route from its recorded attachment. Match the attachment's agent identity to the sandbox while retaining sandbox, gateway, provider, credential and publication checks; avoid consulting a stale shared route.
Reconcile the actual non-root startup sequence before an ordinary root config write. A bounded, untrusted preimage must match the existing root-owned strict digest and replay the same three credential replacements to exactly the current bytes. This is needed because non-root startup can update only the compatibility hash. Preserve mutable startup behavior, reject unrelated drift, and retain race, rollback and cleanup checks. The startup regression exercises the real guard with the production compat mode.
Reconcile main's custom-hosted routing and cleanup ordering with Hermes local routing. Existing routing and rollback tests protect both paths.
Extend existing Hermes live scenarios for authenticated requests and sibling denial. Retain meaningful cleanup checks and documented lower-level coverage. The current assertion allocation is three unique points below main, with no per-file increase.
Preserve the first public destroy failure in double-onboard while attempting every remaining destroy and raw fallback. Reconcile the registry after fallback deletion, then retain sandbox, registry and listener checks and fail on any original destroy error. Registered teardown uses the same raw-deletion-before-registry-reconciliation recovery order. Separate artifacts retain the original failure and later cleanup results.
Preserve the typed offline native-home cleanup failure code in both thrown and returned live-transport failure paths. Keep the original error and existing refusal behavior; do not change provider ownership, image acquisition, deletion authority or registry retention.
Use the common Docker/Podman
--volume source:target:nocopysyntax for stopped-state cleanup. Podman 6.1 rejects the previous Docker-only--mount ... volume-nocopyoption before creating the cleanup helper. Retain resource identity checks, restricted helper execution, protected paths and original destroy-failure reporting.Document the backup and fresh-recreation requirement for legacy Hermes local routes that cannot resume or rebuild.

CodeRabbit reviewed this commit and reported no actionable findings. Its automatic docstring-coverage warning remains advisory. All nine current Advisor specialists reported clear, with no findings or unresolved recommendations; the workflow and blocker gate passed. Their required
double-onboardselector is covered by the seven-case qualification above. This evidence covers the accepted Hermes/Rebecca follow-up; the broader path-derived review-queue qualification floor is not claimed as fully executed. No human approval or waiver is claimed. All nine preceding Advisor reports were collected: seven clear and two findings about the initial public destroy failure. The mount repair and passing current Podman case address that failure without suppressing the original error after fallback cleanup.
Rebecca’s latest review requested the Podman cleanup fix and a passing latest-commit selector. Both now have the evidence above. The requested legacy Hermes recovery documentation explains the resume/rebuild refusal, backup and fresh-recreation path, and retained Local NVIDIA NIM exception. The requested automated checks have now passed. Rebecca’s existing changes-requested review remains in place pending her independent assessment.
Defer the advisory composed Hermes rebuild test, blanket Ollama documentation catch-up, inherited custom-hosted credential-alias rebuild defect, pinned OpenShell start/watch race and speculative hardening. Parent branches and the separate Pi work remain untouched.
