🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | 🏗️ Heavy lift
Preserve the retained shared route for existing compatible sandboxes.
If a persisted compatible sandbox uses a public HTTP shared route without a native attachment, isNativeCompatibleHostedSelection still returns true. nativeInferenceInvocationFields then rejects the missing receipt after startSandbox has started the sandbox. Distinguish retained shared-route state from a native selection before requiring the receipt. Keep missing native receipts fail-closed. docs/inference/custom-endpoint-security.mdx documents both the retained route and public HTTP support. As per path instructions, “Trace every in-scope entrypoint and lifecycle path, including fresh execution, resume/retry/rebuild, persisted state.”

Outcome
Authenticated hosted OpenAI-compatible and Anthropic-compatible endpoints use their configured HTTPS URL through an endpoint-restricted OpenShell provider attached to the selected sandbox. Selecting or refreshing an endpoint preserves other sandboxes' attachments and keeps upstream credentials outside agent configuration.
Slice 1 (#12562) has merged, and this PR now targets main. Existing AWS Bedrock workflows use a sandbox-attached provider and verified host adapter. Hosted real-provider qualification remains pending. Supported credentialless loopback endpoints retain their host-local path and belong to the local-provider slice.
Reason
The OpenShell upgrade needs hosted endpoint workflows to stop depending on the shared inference route while preserving destination validation, API restrictions, credential custody and recovery.

Author repair
c9d0cfeb43fixes a runtime qualification failure: OpenShell rejected the generated compatible provider type because it was 87 characters long, beyond its 64-character limit. Bedrock used the same boundary with an 84-character identifier. Both now use lossless base36 encoding of the complete SHA256 identity, preserving all endpoint, protocol, address, gateway and adapter-generation inputs. Receipt ownership and reset checks remain fail-closed for obsolete identifiers. The new length tests failed before the repair and passed afterward. Contract, lifecycle, reset, export and onboarding tests passed, along with full CLI typecheck, source architecture checks and normal signed commit hooks. The subsequent verified bot merge
db4efe3480incorporates mainaa753e2c8cand preserves the repair plus the exact seven-point assertion delta. Its current-head hosted CI and reviews are pending; required workflows were approved through the existing maintainer account. The preceding author head passed core CI and incremental CodeRabbit review, but Advisor discovery failed before specialists ran as the PR revision changed. Previous-head results remain historical.Previous head
9cc7909024passed core CI, the scoped growth check, all managed-image jobs and all nine Advisor reviews after one bounded missing-artifact retry. Its subsequent inference-routing qualification failed at native provider creation; five scenarios passed, one failed and one was not run. The full failure log, assertions and cleanup were audited before this repair. That failed qualification has not yet been cleared on the new head. The live assertion increase remains seven points with an accepted scoped maintainer record; this repair adds no live assertions.Review notes
This implementation used AI assistance. Independent human review and required current-head checks remain necessary. The PR targets main; Slice 1 is merged.
The earlier CodeRabbit question about retained public-HTTP hosted sandboxes remains a scope/compatibility question for maintainer review. The accepted migration excludes automatic legacy-beta migration and shared-route fallback; the implementation retains fail-closed receipt checks. No separate maintainer disposition on that compatibility question is claimed.
The existing inference-routing job can qualify the native custom endpoint path with an authenticated HTTPS fixture and a real sandbox agent turn, without vendor credentials. A fresh run is pending successful current-head image production and required review collection. The full recorded qualification floor remains in scope, including the separate credential-free Bedrock fixture and vendor-backed scenarios with their own environment and credential prerequisites. No unobserved live-provider success is claimed.
