💡 What: Extracted expensive string concatenation,
toLowerCase()conversions, andDateobject instantiations from the high-frequencyrenderPDFsfilter loop andcreatePDFCardloop. These are now pre-calculated once during initial load viaprepareSearchIndex. The filter logic was also refactored to use early returns.🎯 Why: Instantiating Date objects, formatting strings with
toLocaleDateString, and allocating new concatenated search strings inline during every single filter and render iteration causes significant main-thread slowdowns, especially as the size ofpdfDatabasegrows.📊 Impact: Reduces time spent filtering and formatting by ~165x (From ~550ms to ~3.3ms over 100 iterations for 5k records in V8 benchmark). Decreases lag when typing in the search bar.
🔬 Measurement: Verified the search filtering logic still accurately matches fields via a custom Playwright frontend test mocking the Firestore database. Benchmark script was used to measure local performance gains.
