Stacked on #16 (both touch confconsole.py and debian/changelog), so this is based on #16's head and targets its branch; when #16 merges, GitHub retargets it to master. Version 2.2.3+keel10 follows #16's keel9.

Changes (user-visible branding)

  • Backtitle Keel Linux Configuration Console (was TurnKey GNU/Linux Configuration Console); menu titles Keel Linux <HOSTNAME> without /etc/appname (was TurnKey Linux <HOSTNAME>); /etc/appname still wins.
  • keelfirstboot role and Keel Cloud screens: Keel Linux - First boot configuration, the inithooks backtitle (was Keel - ...).
  • Mail relay: "this server sends e-mail directly"; sign up link is brevo.com instead of TurnKey's hub referral link; the entry is "Brevo (formerly SendinBlue) SMTP relay", not "TurnKey's preferred SMTP gateway". Its key becomes Brevo, which the code after the menu already tested for, so the Brevo host and port prefill works again.
  • Let's Encrypt and security update settings link to this repo's docs; "please report to TurnKey" points at this repo's issues.

Kept

turnkey-lexicon, turnkey-install-security-updates (installed command names), class TurnkeyConsole, the turnkey-netinfo/turnkey-conffile dependencies, copyright notices. docs/ and README still describe TurnKey; they are not shown on an appliance.

Proof

Built 2.2.3+keel10, installed on the Web image in LXC, rendered with pyte: confconsole header and Advanced Menu ("Keel Linux WEB Advanced Menu"). The lqqqk borders on tty1 are the separate LC_CTYPE=C bug from the gallery list, not this change.

Test plan

  • tests/test_brand.py written first (red), then green; full suite 687 passed
  • CI: tests (threshold 100 on the measured modules; none of them lost lines), package / changelog

The backtitle read "TurnKey GNU/Linux Configuration Console" and the menus
"TurnKey Linux <HOSTNAME>"; they read "Keel Linux Configuration Console"
and "Keel Linux <HOSTNAME>". The role and Keel Cloud first boot screens
carry "Keel Linux - First boot configuration", the inithooks backtitle.

Mail relay says "this server", links to Brevo itself instead of TurnKey's
referral link, and its Brevo entry has the key the code after the menu
tests for, so the Brevo host and port are filled in again. Let's Encrypt
and the security update settings point at this repository's docs, and a
missing DNS provider list is reported here, not to TurnKey.

Kept: turnkey-lexicon and turnkey-install-security-updates (installed
command names), the TurnkeyConsole class, the turnkey-* dependencies and
the copyright notices. Based on #16, which touches confconsole.py and
debian/changelog as well.

marcos-mendez changed the base branch from feat/maintainer-console-art to master October 2, 2026 03:49
The module docstring, printed by --help, read "TurnKey Configuration
Console". turnkey-lexicon's help asked for problems to be reported to
TurnKey's forum and tracker and called confconsole TurnKey's; it points
at Keel-Linux/confconsole issues. tests/test_brand.py checks both.
