Summary

Implements #183: lean per-domain dependency sets under the uv workspace, Makefile targets for one-domain install/test, and a CI matrix that proves credit-only / investing-only isolation.

Dependency split

Member Deps
Shared (duplicated in both; no shared/ package) pandas, click, mlflow-skinny
credit-only xgboost, scikit-learn, joblib, fastapi, uvicorn, kaggle, pyarrow
investing-only yfinance, edgartools, simfin, streamlit, requests
Member dev groups pytest, pytest-cov, ruff on both; httpx on credit only (FastAPI TestClient). Root keeps its own dev for full make install.

Changes

  • Lean credit/pyproject.toml + investing/pyproject.toml; refresh uv.lock
  • Makefile: install-credit, install-investing, test-credit, test-investing (full install / test / lint unchanged)
  • Domain Make/CI use uv run --package / --no-sync — bare uv run re-syncs both members and breaks isolation
  • CI: lint job on full sync; test matrix with cross-domain import assertions (P0/P1), per-domain coverage flags
  • Docs: AGENTS.md, domain READMEs, ADR-0005

Follow-up fix (Jorge local bug)

uv sync --package credit --group dev requires dev on the member package (root groups are not inherited). Member [dependency-groups] dev added; make install-credit now succeeds.

Out of scope

Verification (agent VM)

make install-credit # succeeds; import yfinance fails; 105 credit tests passed
make install-investing # succeeds; import xgboost fails; 228 investing tests passed
make install && make lint && make test # 333 passed

Do not merge without Jorge’s explicit OK.

Note

Medium Risk
Changes install surfaces and CI gates for the whole monorepo; incorrect dependency boundaries could break domain-only workflows, though matrix assertions mitigate regression.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Updated setup guidance with separate installation and testing instructions for the credit and investing packages, as well as full-workspace setup.
  • Chores
    • Streamlined package-specific dependencies so installing one package no longer requires the other package’s dependencies.
    • Updated automated checks to test each package independently and report coverage separately.

Split the duplicated 15-package set so credit no longer pulls
yfinance/simfin/streamlit/edgartools/requests and investing no longer
pulls xgboost/sklearn/joblib/fastapi/uvicorn/kaggle/pyarrow. Shared
libs (pandas, click, mlflow-skinny) stay duplicated in both members
per #183 (no shared/ package yet).

📝 Walkthrough

The repository now defines leaner package-specific dependencies and setup commands for credit and investing. CI runs full-workspace linting and tests each domain in a separate matrix job.

Changes: Domain-specific setup and CI

Layer / File(s) Summary
Package dependencies and setup
pyproject.toml, credit/pyproject.toml, investing/pyproject.toml, AGENTS.md, credit/README.md, investing/README.md
The package manifests define domain-specific dependencies and development groups. The setup instructions describe full-workspace and domain-only sync and test commands.
Lint and domain test jobs
.github/workflows/pr-ci.yml
The workflow separates full-workspace linting from credit and investing test jobs. Each test job checks package and dependency availability, runs tests with XML coverage, and labels its Codecov upload by domain.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 5db62

The dependency split and CI matrix look sound. The README examples could still lead developers to re-install both domains' dependencies after a domain-only setup. This is a minor documentation fix and is low risk to merge.

Credit FastAPI tests need httpx for starlette.testclient. Previously
pulled transitively via investing; after the lean #183 split, declare
it on the root dev group so credit-only sync still runs serving tests.

Bare uv run re-syncs the full workspace because the root depends on
both members. Domain test targets and CI assertions use --package /
--no-sync so credit-only and investing-only installs stay lean.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Preserve domain isolation in the run examples. Both READMEs introduce a domain-only sync, then show bare uv run commands that can re-sync the full workspace.

Bare uv run re-syncs the full workspace. Credit and investing README
CLI examples that follow one-domain sync now keep --no-sync so isolation
matches the documented caveat (CodeRabbit on #189).

After credit-only sync, bare uv run would re-sync investing. Align the
Packaging CLI block with the isolation caveat (CodeRabbit on #189).
