The full sanity check strengthened confidence in the fixed calculation but did not settle its physical significance. This follow-up records the strongest surviving physical statement and the strongest remaining objection together.

Changes:

  • Explain vanishing return along the already established finite, strictly positive-minimum family, with its changing-parameter quantifiers.
  • Spell out the existing prefactor's relative-gap corollary and distinguish infinite binding energy from the finite torus gap.
  • Check Avron–Elgart Theorem 4 at its actual continuity hypothesis and retain Tolstikhin's abstract-only access limitation.
  • Keep the local power-tangent prediction and the existing stop boundary explicit. No additional conceptual significance is established.

Scope: only STATUS.md and research/CRITICAL_ASSESSMENT.md. All 27 protected inputs, A–D proofs, scripts, numerical references, dependencies and comparison/workload policy are unchanged. The assessment is internal, not independent review. Manuscript drafting, release and outside contact remain on hold.

Completed validation:

  • Fresh local candidate: all 60 supplementary tests and 5 suites / 28 groups / 272 controls pass. All numerical values and workload counters match; each JSON differs only in Python metadata (3.13.5 reference versus 3.12.14 local). All 68 source hashes stayed unchanged. One partial text log was retained; its complete seven-test JSON passed, and a targeted confirmation produced a complete log and identical report.
  • PR run 37268522374, artifact 11327885601: actual tested checkout 4624fbb, all 68 files and tree a5d7328e17cd6a291b16475d80e8089823a93d1c matched. All 60 supplementary tests and 272 controls pass; all five results are byte-identical with zero differences. Artifact SHA-256 e3dab1a682f7fce4e2f86b4fca84e2ab48a0937d70ddbff47c145e0270990cb8.
  • Post-merge run 37269058766, artifact 11327731393: actual main checkout 88b633f, same tree and all 68 files matched. All 60 supplementary tests and 272 controls pass under the unchanged policy. Results are not byte-identical: 518 accepted floating differences (maximum absolute 7.9293e-12) and eight existing reviewed workload counters. Suite 07 raw comparison remains FAIL and policy PASS; the other four raw comparisons pass. Every difference exactly matches the previously inspected main run 37266359934. Artifact SHA-256 4c8ec5c53fe2ac78f82eb821f139a37dfcaf687207c7a148c79297f66b81631c.

All hosted comparisons were recomputed and match their stored records. A ZIP-mode inspection attempt failed because regular git-archive entries omit Unix mode bits; the attempt was preserved and actual tree identity verified through the Git commit object instead. No scientific execution failed or timed out; no references, tolerances or workload policy were changed.

Assessed base: eb2ff98. Candidate: cbdf0e2. Main is clean at the merge revision above. These checks establish reproducibility and source preservation, not independent scientific review, priority clearance or broad significance.

Explain the finite positive-minimum family and the relative-gap corollary without treating either as a new mechanism. Add a scoped Avron-Elgart hypothesis check and the actual abstract-only access boundary for Tolstikhin. Retain the local power-tangent objection and existing stop boundary. Two documentary files only; scientific inputs, proofs, numerical references and comparison policy are unchanged.
