Chenyu Yang - Profile

About me

I’m a Software Engineer with 3.5+ years of full-time experience building and shipping full-stack products, plus hands-on experience bringing AI capabilities into production. Most recently, I spent more than two years at an early-stage AI startup, where I helped build and scale a product from the ground up. I worked across the full product stack — from React, TypeScript, and modern frontend architecture to backend services, APIs, and databases.

A significant part of my work has been turning AI capabilities into practical product experiences. I’ve worked on AI-powered search, analysis, filtering, and workflow features, focusing on how AI can be integrated into real user workflows rather than simply building AI in isolation. This experience has given me a strong interest in the intersection of software engineering, product development, and applied AI.

I enjoy solving complex engineering problems, turning ambiguous requirements into simple and intuitive experiences, and working closely with product and engineering teams. I care about maintainable architecture, reusable components, performance, and building products that people actually enjoy using. I’m currently exploring my next opportunity in Software Engineering, Full-Stack Engineering, Frontend Engineering, Forward Deployed Engineering, or Applied AI Engineering — particularly on teams building impactful products and putting AI into real-world use.

I hold a B.S. in Computer Science from San José State University, where I received the College President’s Scholar Award Honors in 2020 and graduated Cum Laude. Always happy to connect.
