Crash when normal quit app

Description

When I open Cap, then right click to close the app, then will have a crash output

Thanks for the detailed report. A few things that might help here:

The app quit flow on macOS goes through request_app_exit in apps/desktop/src-tauri/src/lib.rs:1229, which runs cleanup steps with timeouts (mic/camera feed removal, camera preview shutdown, ML model release). After that, it calls finalize_app_exit which uses _exit() directly on macOS to bypass atexit handlers. There's also a watchdog thread that forces exit after 8 seconds if cleanup hangs.

Based on your crash log screenshots, this looks like it might be happening during the cleanup phase rather than a graceful exit. The exit cleanup was significantly reworked in PR #1661 and #1720 (the 0.4.84 release you're on). A related issue #1591 reported a broken dock icon after closing on the same macOS version (15.7.3) and M4 hardware, which was closed as fixed.

Would you be able to share the full AppleError.log file content or paste the relevant stack trace? The screenshots suggest it's a SIGABRT-style crash, but seeing which function/thread is crashing would help narrow down whether this is during camera shutdown, the ScreenCaptureKit teardown, or the ML model release step.

Regarding "output always much longer than expected" - are you referring to the Cap log file size, or something in the crash report? If it's the logs, the app does verbose tracing during exit cleanup with timeouts logged at each step.

Relevant code paths to check:

• Camera shutdown timeout: 1200ms (APP_EXIT_CAMERA_SHUTDOWN_TIMEOUT)

This crash (or a very similar one) occurs for me every time I quit the app, whether I've recorded something or not.

We added guards around fullscreen window transitions and fixed a window delegate leak that were causing crashes on quit (cc12fb5). This should be in the latest release, please reopen if it still crashes when you quit.
