Undergraduates get Lab access only as students in a class whose instructor applied for it. The individual form still listed "Undergraduate Student" and accepted the application, which the Lab then declined.

Changes

  • Choosing Undergraduate Student hides the rest of the application and disables Submit. A notice says "The Lab does not currently have capacity to serve undergraduate applicants. Undergraduates can use the Lab through a class whose instructor has applied." It doesn't link to the class application or ask the student to do anything. This applies in both the individual and class modes.
  • The eligibility note, intro, and FAQ now say graduate students from other CUNY campuses can apply individually (selected, like faculty and staff), followed by the same two undergraduate sentences. "Or project" is gone, since there's no project process for undergraduates.

The access service doesn't check affiliation, and this doesn't add a check there. Affiliation is self-reported, and reviewers still decide each application.

The wrapped block in request-access.astro is re-indented, so hide whitespace when reviewing the diff.

Related copy changes: CUNY-AI-Lab/cail-tools-admission (the Tools portal's "access not active" page) and CUNY-AI-Lab/cail-tools-proxy (Model Access page).

Verification

  • bun run check passed (audit, lint, astro check, build).
  • Built preview at 127.0.0.1:4330, then CAIL_WEBSITE_PREVIEW_URL=http://127.0.0.1:4330 bun run --cwd apps/admission vitest run test/http-contract.test.ts in cail-tools-admission: 36/36. Both rendered forms submitted to the local Admission Worker.
  • Re-ran bun run check after the wording change: passed.
  • In the browser on the built preview, choosing Undergraduate Student shows the notice, hides the details, disables Submit, and adds no links. Switching to Graduate Student brings the form back.
  • Not verified: live CUNY Login and submission on ailab.gc.cuny.edu.

Undergraduates get Lab access only as students in a class whose instructor
applied for it. Choosing "Undergraduate Student" now hides the application
and states that rule instead of accepting an application the Lab declines.
The eligibility note and FAQ name graduate students from other campuses as
individually eligible and undergraduates as class-only.

States the rule as capacity rather than a refusal: "The Lab does not
currently have capacity to serve undergraduate applicants. Undergraduates
can use the Lab through a class whose instructor has applied."
