GraphPaper documentation

A studio for connected thought. GraphPaper brings source material, graph exploration and a writing desk into one local-first Windows application.

These guides describe GraphPaper 0.4.0. The release page provides the current Windows download; CHANGELOG records version history. The same guides are published in the GitHub wiki.

A few distinctions worth keeping

Local storage is not offline inference. Sources and drafts remain in the local project database; choosing a cloud provider sends the material needed for the requested action to that provider.

A source match is not a truth certificate. Exact quotations help locate evidence. They do not establish whether a paper is valid or whether a conclusion follows.

A proposal is not publication. You choose the angle, review the draft and accept prose edits. Scientific submission checks require author verification; they do not represent a review board.

Suggested first sessions

For a writer: open the illustrative nonfiction example, select a graph node, inspect its source, edit the chosen angle, then explore the outline and writing desk. This requires no model request until you explicitly generate something.

For a researcher: create a Science project with one focused question and one or two databases. Search, inspect the log and screen a small set before spending model calls on appraisal or drafting. Expand only after checking what the first pass retrieved.

Documentation maintenance

These Markdown files are the maintained source. The documentation tooling validates links and renders the wiki with consistent navigation; screenshots are shared rather than copied into every page. Historical release notes stay available, but they are not the current setup guide.
