Broken text on screen if battery is too-low-to-boot ArkOS #190
My R36S battery just died.
Which I found out by putting in the original firmware SD-card, which had a nice image displayed, saying: "battery too low - in chinese too" cool.
**Would it be possible to have the same thing on your distro? ❤️ **
Currently, I had a scrambled-pixel text output in black/white stripes on my display.
I could decipher some text saying voltage.
Sorry, I haven't found the time yet to shrink the original image...
What's the quickest way to extract what you need from the 50 GB SD-card image?
Would a dd if=r36s_stock.img of=smaller.img bs=4M count=? suffice?
(I know that would produce a probably "corrupt" partition, but maybe it'd be enough for you to extract the uboot data you are looking for?)

Can you show us? And which stock firmware is it?
pjotrek-b commentedon Jul 31, 2025
Here's the "stock photo":

Haven't photographed the black/white line text. Sorry.

Stock firmware is some ArkOS dated 2024.
Don't have the original SD-card at hand at the moment.
AeolusUX commentedon Aug 28, 2025
Is it possible for you to create an image of that build without all the games? There must be a uboot update with this that made this possible.
pjotrek-b commentedon Aug 29, 2025
Sure.
So you'd like a copy of the original firmware (OS, not the ROMs) to check how they did it?
Cool. I'll see when I'll have a small .img file I can put up for you to download.
CenGo86 commentedon Aug 31, 2025
You mean this? I have this too when voltage get low.
pjotrek-b commentedon Sep 1, 2025
@CenGo86 : Exactly! If you take a lens, you can read that the lines are text saying
low volt-something😄I'll see that I find the time to shrink my image and upload.

i have a image of the same stock arkos on original sd card genuine r36s, if you still need it

...or: I'll try to
mount -o loopthe image, delete all the ROMs; save - and then upload?UPDATE: Won't work, as the img file can only be mounted read-only, it seems.
pjotrek-b commentedon Sep 25, 2025
@speedracer2k3 : Good to know, you'd have another copy!
pjotrek-b commentedon Sep 25, 2025
Here's a download link to a tar.bz2 copy of the boot partition:

At least it contains the image for

battery_fail, so maybe what you need is in there?speedracer2k3 commentedon Sep 25, 2025
here is link to battery .bmp image
