💡 What:
Verified and maintained the InstancedMesh implementation in components/QuantumScene.tsx for MicrotubuleTorus.

🎯 Why:
Rendering hundreds of individual cube meshes individually generates excessive draw calls (e.g. 1080+ draw calls for 1080 torus cubes across two instances). Utilizing InstancedMesh reduces individual cube draw calls down to just 1 draw call per MicrotubuleTorus component (totaling 2 draw calls for the scene's torus components).

📊 Measured Improvement:

  • Baseline (Individual Meshes): ~1080 draw calls (1 per cube in the torus) plus lighting pass.
  • Optimized (InstancedMesh): 2 draw calls for the torus components (1 per MicrotubuleTorus instance) plus lighting pass.
  • Reduction: Over 99.8% reduction in mesh draw calls, resulting in significantly improved rendering efficiency and frame rates.
