• Fix tree shaking bug due to TypeScript import alias (#4507)

  This release fixes a bug that could cause esbuild to incorrectly tree-shake imports that are used in a TypeScript type alias under certain circumstances. Affected code uses a TypeScript-specific import assignment and looks something like this:

• Fix CSS minification bug involving & (#4497)

  This release fixes a bug where esbuild's CSS minifier incorrectly removed a & when it was unsafe to do so. Here is an example:

• Avoid overwriting input files without --allow-overwrite (#4484)

  For example: esbuild input.js --outfile=input.js tells esbuild to overwrite input.js with the output of running esbuild on it. This was supposed to already be prevented by default, but it accidentally regressed in version 0.17.0 and apparently didn't have any test coverage. The error message was being printed but the input file was still being overwritten. Oops.

  This release puts the original behavior back. With this release, esbuild should now actually avoid overwriting input files unless --allow-overwrite is explicitly present. This is done by not writing out any files when a build error is encountered.

• Fix incorrect code generated when using top-level await (#4498)

  Previously esbuild could generate code containing a syntax error in complex scenarios involving top-level await used in a dependency cycle. The problem was a missing async on one or more module wrapper closures. With this release, esbuild now uses a fixed-point iteration algorithm to correctly annotate all dependencies in the cycle as needing an async module wrapper.

• Fix a minification bug with lowered logical assignment operators (#4508)

  This release fixes a bug that could cause esbuild to generate incorrect code for logical assignment operators when lowering them to an older target environment. Specifically the lowering process requires duplicating the left-hand side, but esbuild incorrectly failed to count the duplicate as a new usage when the left-hand side is an identifier. That then caused the minifier to believe that the left-hand side was only used once and could attempt to incorrectly inline an initializer into the first usage. This bug has now been fixed:

v1.7.0

Summary

HLS.js v1.7.0 adds I-frame playlist support, improved playback of protected content, and CMCD v2 for standardized streaming analytics. It also delivers smoother audio-track switching, faster startup through parallel init-segment loading, and fixes across Low-Latency HLS, subtitles, interstitials, and live streaming.

Highlights to try in this release:

• I-frame playback — call hls.createIFramePlayer() and loadMediaAt(time) to render frames from a stream's #EXT-X-I-FRAME-STREAM-INF variants in a video element, or load an #EXT-X-I-FRAMES-ONLY media playlist directly.
• Smoother audio switching — set hls.nextAudioTrack (or pass { flushImmediate: true } to setAudioOption for an immediate one) to schedule a seamless audio-rendition change that avoids stalls and added live latency.
• CMCD v2 — set cmcd.version: 2 to enable it, and configure cmcd.eventTargets to send standardized event reports to an external analytics endpoint. Not all CMCD v2 events, fields, and HLS.js features are supported as of this release.
• Faster startup — alternate audio and video init segments now load in parallel; try a stream with separate audio/video renditions.
• Improved support for looped video — a new loopBackBufferFlush config option flushes the lower-quality back buffer on looped streams.
• Tune level selection — abrSwitchInterval throttles automatic quality switches, and errorPenaltyExpireMs lets a level penalized by a load error be re-elected instead of being avoided for the rest of the session.
• Stop loading stale live streams — set liveMaxUnchangedPlaylistRefresh to error out with PLAYLIST_UNCHANGED_ERROR after a set number of unchanged playlist reloads instead of polling a dead playlist indefinitely.
• Recover from broken appends — on live and VOD alike, appendTimeout bounds a SourceBuffer append that never completes, while MEDIA_SOURCE_REQUIRES_RESET and BUFFER_APPEND_NO_PROGRESS report a MediaSource that has to be reset and fragments that append without ever buffering.

v3.12.1

Compatibility release. 3.12.0 changed how the inference runtime (WASM) is located, and that change broke existing integrations. This release restores them. If you are on 3.12.0, upgrade.

What broke in 3.12.0

3.12.0 moved to ONNX Runtime 1.27, which replaced the four runtime files (ort-wasm.wasm, ort-wasm-simd.wasm and their threaded/jsep variants) with a single ort-wasm-simd-threaded.asyncify.wasm. Two consequences were not handled:

• npm consumers with no wasmPaths set. The default location was resolved from the SDK script's own URL, which does not exist in a bundled ESM build — the fallback then pointed at an address that did not serve the file, and the SDK failed to start.
• Anyone using the pre-3.11 wasmPaths shape ({'ort-wasm.wasm': url, 'ort-wasm-simd.wasm': url, …}). The new code looked for a wasm key, found none, silently ignored the whole configuration and fell back to the default — so a perfectly good self-hosted setup stopped being used.

Neither produced a usable error message: the failure surfaced as an opaque runtime instantiation error that named no URL.
