Rationale behind disabling D-Bus for Emacs X11 ? #60912

Description

@brhertz

I mean, when you have X11 you probably have a window manager (Openbox in my case).

When you have a window manager you probably don't mind getting desktop notifications from applications when they want to draw your attention to something, so you probably have a notification daemon running (dunst in my case).

When you have such a daemon you probably also want to send it notifications from Emacs, like about upcoming events/deadlines/etc in your Org agenda. And that's when you really could use D-Bus, because that's what Emac's builtin notification package works with.

True, Void's Emacs GTK has it. But I just love Emacs X11 (that's why I made me a custom build anyway).

Just a question. Thanks!
