After looking at this issue, I have come to realize that there might be an issue with the date parsing in this crate. As the goal is to align with GNU coreutils, please correct me if I am wrong, I believe we should trust the calendar date over the weekday.
Repro (GNU coreutils - top, uutils/coreutils - bottom):
