Hi everyone,
I wanted to open a discussion about something I've been thinking about for a while: adding a terminal-based interface (CLI/TUI) to AmicoScript.
A bit of background
I've always been passionate about using the terminal and keyboard over the mouse, ever since I first started using a computer. There's something about the efficiency and flow of staying in the terminal that just clicks for me.
Then agentic programming came along. I discovered tools like Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode, and I fell in love all over again with the terminal-first approach. These tools showed me how powerful and intuitive a well-designed CLI experience can be.
The idea
I thought, why not bring that same experience to managing your own transcriptions? A terminal interface could be really beneficial for people like me who enjoy working in the terminal: quick access, keyboard-driven workflows, and a lightweight alternative to the web UI.
Some things I'm exploring:
Quick transcription process start with integrated file manager
Browsing and searching your library
Managing jobs and viewing progress
Exporting transcripts
Development is already underway!
I'm actively working on this in the amicoscript-tui branch. If you're curious and want to try it out during development, feel free to check it out and test it. I'd love to hear your feedback as it takes shape.
This is really about understanding what users think. Is a CLI/TUI something you'd find useful? What features would you want to see? Any pain points with the current web UI that a terminal interface could solve?
