It won’t switch to 72Hz (Dream air slam)

I have a Pimax Dream Air Slam, and on Steam I see the option to switch between 72 and 90, with 90 currently selected and working.
When I switch to 72, it tells me to restart SteamVR, and if I do, it restarts but goes back to 90.
I’ve tried with the Pimax Evo set to 72 or 90, and it does exactly the same thing.
It doesn’t change without restarting SteamVR either (as I do on PSVR2 with PSVR2Toolkit) – I’ve checked.

Try using the restart compositor button on the about page after changing it. Doing that allows changing the refresh rate without fully restarting SteamVR, but mine also changes correctly when restarting SteamVR. Let me know if that changes anything or if it's still stuck at 90 Hz.
It does not do seamless refresh rate changes like the PSVR2, because when I tested that on the MeganeX it instantly crashed Windows.

I tried changing it to 72 and clicking ‘Restart Composer’, and it stayed at 72, with the games capped at 72.
After testing it for a while without any issues, I restarted SteamVR to see if it would stay that way, and it went back to 90.
This method works for me, because I actually mainly want to use 90 (I really miss the 120), and if I need to save gpu power on a demanding game, it’s easy to switch it over like this.
If you need any further information or want me to carry out any other tests, I’m happy to do so.
