GitBash instead of WSL ?

This extension requires Windows Sub-System for Linux is it possible to get it to work with GitBash ? Or outside of this extension any suggestions ?

I have tried with MSYS2/MINGW and it seems that the only missing piece is that "workspaceFolder" is defined to "/mnt/Users/..." in case the project is on user's home, but obviously it only works for WSL.
It shouldn't be hard to add MSYS2/MINGW/Git for Windows or simply allow an option in the extensio to override "HOME".
