Running Dalamud in macOS (using WINE) doesn't work

It seems to crash and burn the whole place down while it should theoretically work.

It may or may not be related to running this offline as well, so better throw that into the mix.

Another issue a user ran into is that Astra under Crossover Wine may still trigger the game's Wine detection and use the macOS license, if that's not desired. Something may have changed in 7.55, let's see what other launchers do?

xiv on mac's version of wine seems to prevent this but it hasnt even been updated in 3-4 months, so maybe theres something in it's source code that allows the spoof. it is written almost entirely in swift tho

not sure if this has any other implications for say running the windows version via wine on steam os/linux because i heard that if the game client detects wine at all it'll assume mac even if you're not on a mac
