Hello!

I wrote a custom cache handler for a Next.js app. The only import i use is createClient:

import {createClient} from 'redis';

const client = createClient({
    url: process.env.REDIS_URL || 'redis://localhost:6379',
});

const result = await client
    .withCommandOptions({signal: AbortSignal.timeout(10000)})
    .get('key');

Even if i remove the .withCommandOptions(...) call, during the build i get the following error:

SyntaxError: Named export 'commandOptions' not found. The requested module 'redis' is a CommonJS module, which may not support all module.exports as named exports.

Same problem here. I am using the @neshca/cache-handler 1.9.0 (latest at the time of writing) with redis 5.8.0 (also latest).

Anyone found a solution?

We had the same with @neshca/cache-handler (both 1.7.3 and 1.9.0) and were able to get around the issue by explicitly adding redis v4.7.0 to our package.json.

I was able to resolve the error by rewriting the import as was suggested by the error message:

- import { commandOptions, createClient } from 'redis';
+ import redis from 'redis';
+ const { commandOptions, createClient } = redis;

Using @fortedigital/nextjs-cache-handler (basically @neshca/cache-handler but actually maintained) with redis ^5.10.0 works for us.
