All Virtual Cameras not working after MacOS Tahoe 26.4 #300
|
I used to be able to pass OBS and SplitCam virtual cameras to Snap Camera but after the MacOS 26.4 update, there must've been some kind of change in how MacOS handles virtual cameras and Snap Camera cannot read from those streams. I can still get the camera feed off of the built-in webcam of a MacBook Pro. There is a Camera/Microphone In-Use indicator that appears on the Menu Bar where the user can see what the virtual camera is streaming. FaceTime, Photo Booth can read from the virtual cam streams, OBS and SplitCam can read from each other. Snap Camera is the only one hanging when trying to capture the stream. I've tried disabling the indicator for legacy cameras and the SIP on the filesystem through Recovery Mode to no avail. The thing is, the camera indicator still turn on. |

SOLVED. It turns out as it was some kind of glitch between the MacOS 26.4 update and the Video Output resolution for virtual cams that caused third party virtual cams to hang for SnapCam. Nothing looked out of place at first, but I went to the Settings for OBS and looked at the Video > Output (Scaled) Resolution and saw that it had some ungodly aspect ratio with 6 decimal places. I don't know how this could happen, as the Output Resolution CANNOT be manually typed in, it only accepts resolutions in traditional aspects ratios from a drop down list. I picked 1280 x 720 and OBS Virtual Cam started working immediately on Snap Cam. |
