It'd be nice to get information whether this patch eases the installation of shared libraries for bzip2. This information should be located in README.md.
I'm aware that you're not the original author of bzip2 and that you're providing a patch here. However, this is the only sane way to install bzip2 and my suggestion will be helpful to others.
