Xtensa GCC compiler

I was wondering if anyone has added Xtensa GCC compiler and maybe tools/library for the ESP32?

Last time I checked, the upstream GNU GCC did not include the latest xtensa patches. If you can build a cross compiler for xtensa, please let me know.

I will have to check. I know there is a port but not sure where it exists.

This is one step, then you need support in binutils/gdb and newlib. Basically you need to compile it using the latest upstream sources and see if it is functional.

Another path would be to check if the tools provided by Espressif use the upstream sources or local forks.

I was wondering if there was a way to just package the GCC binaries from Espressif for xPacks?

I doubt they provide binaries for all platforms supported by xPacks.

Since I recently reworked all binary packages, I have a better view on how new toolchains can be released.

The only realistic path is to identify the respective toolchain as provided by the vendor, ask for the patches and build scripts, and try to replicate them.

I currently have no experience with Espressif devices, so if someone is interested in this, and can provide a link to the build scripts, perhaps we can do something.
