🚀 Introducing the EPA SWMM Expert GPT
I'm pleased to share a new Custom GPT developed specifically for EPA SWMM users, students, researchers, and stormwater professionals.
The GPT has been trained using the official EPA SWMM documentation, including:
📘 SWMM User's Manual
📘 Hydrology Reference Manual
📘 Hydraulics Reference Manual
📘 Water Quality Reference Manual
📘 Applications Manual
It can help users:
✅ Understand SWMM hydrology and hydraulics concepts
✅ Explain Horton, Green-Ampt, and Curve Number infiltration methods
✅ Interpret flooding, surcharge, and hydraulic grade line (HGL) results
✅ Troubleshoot model errors and warnings
✅ Explain SWMM input parameters and object settings
✅ Review model outputs and engineering implications
✅ Support calibration and model development workflows
✅ Answer theory and software-related questions using EPA documentation
One of the design goals was to create a tool that goes beyond software instructions and explains the engineering principles behind SWMM simulations.
The GPT has been validated against the EPA manuals and tested for both technical accuracy and resistance to hallucinating undocumented SWMM features.
I look forward to feedback from the stormwater modeling community and welcome suggestions for future enhancements.
