The module currently stores PIDs only in the custom pid_item table. Some institutions maintain PID values as part of their metadata model (e.g., dcterms:identifier or a local ontology property such as biri:has_pid). It would be useful to allow administrators to specify a metadata property that is automatically populated when a PID is minted.
