Discussion - should we provide an action to invalidate a cache?

This option would help users in situations like this to rerun the download script without manually going to the cache folder and adding tmp tag.

invalidate_cache will not remove the cache, it will add tmp flag to cache meta. I'm not seeing much of a use case other than ease of debug for developers and in situations where one has downloaded a huge dataset and there is an update in folder structure/added new files just like we experienced in pointpainting, this would enable the user to update the downloaded dataset (here using rsync) without redoing all over again.

Actually this is not invalidating a cache - rather making a cache entry tmp right? We can then have a tmp action for cache like mlc tmp cache

@anandhu-eng That looks good to me. We can have mark-tmp cache. We can agree on using - in the action names like -docker-run.
