Looking for contributors: [Feature/Area] #6

Description

@migit

Hi everyone!

I'm working on VerhoBot – an open‑source, battery‑powered smart curtain controller. The project is at a fun stage where there's lots of room for contribution, and I'd love some help!

What I'm currently working on

  • Deep sleep power management (just added!)
  • WiFi configuration portal
  • NTP‑based scheduling

Areas where I'd really appreciate help

  1. PCB Design – I have a prototype, but I'd love a review on the power architecture and layout (KiCad).
  2. Position Sensing – Need to implement endstop switches or encoders for accurate homing.
  3. Home Assistant Integration – MQTT auto‑discovery would be a game‑changer.
  4. Mechanical Design – Improving the 3D‑printed enclosure and curtain rail attachment.
  5. Testing – If you have different curtain types, I'd love feedback on reliability.

How to get started

  • Check out the repo: [link]
  • The deep_sleep branch is the most active
  • Build instructions are in the README (I'm working on improving them)

How to reach out

  • Comment on this issue if you're interested in a specific area
  • Or just dive in and open a Pull Request – I'll review it!

Even if you just have feedback or ideas, drop a comment below. I'm happy to answer questions and help you get set up.

Thanks for stopping by!
