Feature request: Angular v22 - WebMCP support

Angular introduced experimental support for WebMCP in v22

I haven't looked into it too much but it might be a great feature to generate WebMCP tools into the service classes.

Questions that need answering for this:

• Which operations should be tools at all? Maybe an AI agent should not be able to delete data :)
• How to map WebMCP description? OpenAPI summary / description?
• Output shape: JSON output needs to be converted to specific readable text
• Service registration scope: providedIn 'root' means it's always available?
• Risk annotation mapping?

There are many more questions like this but it might be a cool addition. I don't know in what shape or form yet.

Hi @CarstenHouweling — thanks for raising this, and for the thoughtful questions. We agree it's a genuinely interesting fit: we already generate a typed method per operation and carry the schema from the spec, so the generator sits close to where these tools would be declared.

That said, WebMCP is very early — Angular ships it as explicitly experimental ("APIs are subject to change even outside of major versions"), the underlying spec is still a W3C Community Group draft that's actively moving, and browser support is limited. Generating code against an interface that can shift between minor releases would mean handing you output that could break without warning, which isn't a trade-off we're comfortable making yet.

So our plan is to track it and let the spec settle before committing to a shape. We're deliberately not pinning down the design now — the questions you list (which operations become tools, description and risk mapping, output shape, scope) are exactly the ones we'd want to get right, and the answers depend on where the standard lands. Whatever we do ship will be opt-in and configurable, as with the rest of our flags — never something that exposes operations to an agent by default.
