Since UI Version 0.9.38, the logic of reality factors has changed and also the naming of the parameters have changed slightly
Name changes
As there was a bit of confusion about "reality factor" vs "slope adjustment", I changed the names to make it a bit clearer:
-
Reality Factor in the RouteDetails screen remains unchanged (but might be renamed to "Route Reality Factor": If this is changed to a value <100(%), then the route would be handled as if the slopes would be smaller. I.e. riding a climb with the same power will lead to a faster speed compared to a RF of 100%.
This should be used if reality does not really matter and you want to just use the route as scenic background of a workout or you just want to explore scenarie without suffering
-
Slope Adjustment was now renamed to Bike Reality Factor (BRF) and represents the slope that is actually sent to the Smart Trainer. I.e. when riding a climb of 10% with a Bike Reality Factor of 80, the app would send 8% to the trainer and as a consequence the climb would not feel as hard. The speed however would still be calculate based on the route, i.e. you would ride with less power and thus probably a bit slower than with a BRF of 100%.
This should be used to adjust how a slope "feels" as SmartTrainers are interpreting slopes differently and sometimes climbs are feeling harder than in reality.
New functionality
- For Smart Trainer gear mode, the user can now define a bike reality factor just for downhill sections. This is to avoid that on downhill sections, there is no resistance (as in reality) - which feels a bit odd on an indoor ride. Setting this value to e.g. 20 (%) would mean that for a descent of 10% the app would send -2% slope to the SmartTrainer.
The default value will be 50%
