Debian 12 / 13 Build with traffic-dfl.conf and traffic-sm.conf

Hello,

Please do not overwrite the two files /usr/share/grommunio-admin-common/traffic-dfl.conf and /usr/share/grommunio-admin-common/traffic-sm.conf in the Debian 12 and 13 packages.
Otherwise, nginx will no longer start if it is not provided with the nginx-module-vts module.

What do you mean exactly? Maybe provide some dpkg -S/-L / apt / nginx -t/-T outputs on whats going on as those files should be correctly handled since grommunio/admin-configs#4

My current installation crashes when it tries to restart nginx because the files are already there. Unfortunately, creating the files before installation doesn't help either, because it simply overwrites them without asking whether the currently installed version should be kept or not. The fix grommunio/admin-configs#4 doesn't work for me.

With the current community version, there is only the following error:
nginx -t
2025/11/27 09:05:05 [emerg] 26124#26124: unknown directive "vhost_traffic_status_zone" in /usr/share/grommunio-admin-common/traffic-dfl.conf:1
nginx: configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf test failed

The fix grommunio/admin-configs#4 doesn't work for me.

there was no fix, it was just as a reference to what has happened recently with those files and that there shouldn't be any more problems.

Could you maybe describe in more detail what you are trying to accomplish and/or why you are modifying those files and don't want them overriden by the package.

EDIT: if you just don't want to use this module than i suppose there would need to happen some changes like changing the includes for these files to /etc/grommunio-admin-common/nginx.d/ in which links would be created to link to the actual files but those would only be created on package installation but not on package upgrades so you could just remove them and by that disabling this integration...

Host-specific configuration must go in /etc. See https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man7/hier.7.html .

The traffic*.conf configs are for the /statusmonitor nginx location so that AAPI can report stats ahd host status

So, the configs:

1. have been to a new sub package of grommunio-admin-api, grommunio-admin-api-mod-vts
2. Its is now a 'Recommends:' against grommunio-admin-api, so its now optional.
3. It depends on nginx-module-vts
4. Grommunio-setup-deb now installs this new package instead of nginx-module-vts

Problem solved.
