Steps to reproduce the behavior

This issue seems to be occurring with the hosted Remote version of the GitHub MCP Server. I would recommend following the installation instructions here: https://github.com/github/github-mcp-server#remote-github-mcp-server

But I guess the repository is private because I can't not access this url with 404 not found error

Apologies - I've edited my comment with the correct link. Have you tried with http instead of sse?

I use claude code

It is presumed to have failed because you have to float it locally and use it unless it is an enterprise.
I'll try it later and close the issue.

You should be able to use the remote MCP server regardless of it being an enterprise or not, I would recommend trying the setup with the generic non-VS Code option for using a GitHub PAT:

Although granted, yes, the instructions we provide for Claude do recommend a local Docker instance is used.
