Option to bring back the "New message" floating button

The floating button for starting a new chat was removed in a past update. Could this be made optional (toggle in settings) instead of removed entirely?

I never understood why?.. Is this such a frequently used feature that it needs to be permanently displayed on the screen?

Yes, I often need to create channels, and this button makes that task easier. I understand this reason may seem minor, but in the long run, ergonomic design still matters.
