I've been searching for some gafam alternatives to diferent services and found your project I would love to use it, but I'm starting to get sick about subscriptions, I love to support projects that give to the commons and I do it, but only when my finances allow me to.
I recently found a way to solve the problem that many projects need to maintain a server to ensure proper operation, making it a permanent and unavoidable cost.
The people developing everdo (https://everdo.net/) offer the option that synchronization only occurs locally, when both devices are under the same network. I found this option really interesting since it really covers 100% of my situations in which I need to synchronize data, since I synchronize the desktop computer app with the mobile one, so if I'm in front of the computer, I always have my mobile with me, ready to synchronize.
How would you see implementing this functionality? I think it would be an important step for many people to make the leap to free software applications and at the same time a good step from the philosophy of degrowth. Maybe there are some use cases that will not work with this setup, but I think it will work for a lot of people.
