Computing z_wl without minimum finder

Hello, I'm looking to find tau and L_K manually using for loop and tolerance factor and not using the "ndmath.nDimNewton", I understood for tau as its just an angle of moment closer to 0 or less than specified tolerance, how would you suggest me to implement z_wl in a similar manner.

I'm trying to do the calculation for the stepped hull by implementing wake theory, if you have any leads on this cause i only cam across 1 paper and its forcing a trim to calculate all the variables.

Hello, ndmath.nDimNewton seems to be exactly what you're trying to replicate, no? I just created a different repository for it as it's a general n-dimensional root finding Newton Method--but with a few tweaks which help error handling in OpenPlaning's use case.

If for some reason you don't want to have that function called from ndmath, you can see nDimNewton's implementation to make your own. To have L_K, you need to also have z_wl and tau.

If I recall correctly Savitsky might have had charts of L_K for you to find it--but mathematically speaking a root-finding method is better.

I'm aware that Savitsky has been used to estimate stepped planing hulls, and that its approach is to use essentially two Savitsky hulls (before and after the step), and the aft hull uses the trim depending on the flow separation of the forward hull; but I'm afraid it's not something I've replicated.
