Pad activity feed: all heading chats in one live view

Status: raw idea. Nobody has designed or scheduled this yet. We have to work on it before it becomes an issue.

The idea

Edward Saperia suggested a feed page for a pad. It shows the activity of every heading chat in one stream.

He proposed two addresses. Nothing is decided.

Use case

Put the feed on a projector. The room sees all activity in the pad without opening each heading chat. In Edward's words, it "just kind of shows all the activity".

Mock-up

Each line shows the path to a heading, the user, and the message. A join line shows only the title and the user.

Open questions

• Which address? A path on the pad, or a subdomain.
• Who can open it? A Private pad must stay private.
• Which events appear: messages, joins, files, edits?
• What makes it fit a projector: large type, no controls, light and dark themes?
• Does a line open its heading chat?
• Does the feed update live, and how many lines does it keep?

Next step

Talk it through in this thread. When the shape is clear, we turn it into an issue.

• Anyone who can open the doc can open it
• maybe you can decide this on the feed page

• no clickable links needed, just for display
• not much use as a feed if it doesn't update live!

• url of the doc is prominent
