abcranger binary file is not available for macosOS

Hello,
I used DIYABCR-RF in RStudio (on MacOS) last year and it worked a treat. Today I tried to run more training datasets using exactly the same files/project, R version, script and OS version but after clicking on ‘Simulate’ I got the error “Error: Native call to processx_exec failed T”.

I then tried to restart my computer and RStudio and reinstalled diyabcGUI. The error is still there though. In addition now when I launch the interface (‘diyabcGUI::diyabc()’) I get another error saying ‘Error: abcrangerbinary file is not available formacosOS’. I get the same message if I run ‘diyabcGUI::dl_all_latest_bin()’.

Any clue what’s going on?

I've also run into the same issue, after installing the diyabcGUI R package for the first time. The issue occurs after running
diyabcGUI::dl_all_latest_bin() the first time after installation in R, and returns the following error message:

Error in dl_latest_bin("abcranger") : abcrangerbinary file is not available formacosOS athttps://api.github.com/repos/diyabc/abcranger/releases/latest,please contact DIYABC-RF support. In addition: Warning message: In dl_latest_bin("diyabc") : The latest release diyabc-RF-macos-v1.1.51 was already downloaded.

I'm running R version 4.4.1 (2024-06-14) on macOS (Sonoma 14.3.1).

Hi, I am really sorry for the very late reply.

Due to work overload, the development, support and maintenance for the project diyabcGUI is currently paused. Feel free to contact us (by submitting an issue) if you want to take over the development for this project. Pull request are also welcome to fix bug or implement missing functionalities.

I have updated the README file to announce this. This is the official announcement to clarify a situation that has been going on for quite some time.

You can still use the command line version of the software which is still maintained/supported. Check the documentation page here.

Just for everyone's information, you can manually install your preferred macOS versions of the diyabc and abcranger binaries directly into the bin folder for the diyabcgui R installation. For me that's

/Library/Frameworks/R.framework/Versions/4.2/Resources/library/diyabcGUI/bin/

From there, the "Error: Native call to processx_exec failed" error can be resolved by using chmod +x on the binaries you just installed. There are further errors on my attempts here, but unfortunately the command line version does not work either.
