Image download

Hello!
I am loving this tool, but I have a problem with downloading images. Basically I created a IG dataset through Zeeschuimer that has both videos and images, over 2000 items. Of course, the limit of 1000 items per download applies to both of them. When I download the videos and run the download multiple times, the tool actually updates the download each time, and at the end I have all the videos I have in my dataset downloadable in one zip file, so everything works perfectly. However, when I try to download images, each run has the same exact items as the pevious one, so I get 1000 in the first run and then another 1000 in the second but they're the same images. Of course I could download the csv, split it and re-upload it or use other libraries, but I thought that maybe this was just a bug and could be easily fixed.
Also, I would recommend to add a transcription feature within the analysis tool. I know that there is a way to get transcriptions through 4cat but I remember that is was a quite complicated workflow and in the end it was just better to run a whisper script on colab.

Hello @pasqualenoschese00-del, thank you for your feedback. You can adjust the amount of images to download in the Control Panel -> Settings -> Download Images. Per the setting's tooltip, you can set it to 0 which removes the limit entirely. There are Download Videos options as well. If it is not your 4CAT instance, you will need to contact the administrators and ask them to adjust these settings for either your specific account or a tag (group) associated with your account.

That said, the feature is designed to allow administrators to limit the number of images/videos their users download. We could consider defaulting to no limit for new installations. We also discussed a first time installation settings that could walk users through such settings.

Additionally, the limit should perhaps warn users that they will download the same images (instead of wasting the resources of actually downloading them again). The video downloader does check for previously downloaded videos so this is less of a problem there... though as noted, users are able to use that to circumvent the restriction which is probably not what administrators expect.

The transcription feature is on the list to upgrade. We plan to have it working using models via Ollama (either hosted by the 4CAT admin or elsewhere) or other commercial APIs if available.

Hello, thank you for your answer. When I look at the processor for downloading images, I do not see the limit but rather a "number of images" with a max of 1000; when I put it to 0, it only downloads one item. I am sure I am running the latest 4cat version

@pasqualenoschese00-del If you do not see Control Panel and Settings then you are not an admin user and cannot change those settings. You will have to contact your 4CAT administrators as they decided you can download a max of 1000 images.
