Q1: What is Interouter's moat after Coinbase fixes issue #2437 and the CDP facilitator works correctly?
The CDP bug is our foot in the door — fast distribution to production sellers who are currently losing money on metered upto calls. But the long-term defensibility does not depend on that single bug.
The x402 ecosystem is fragmenting by design. Linux Foundation governance means multiple hyperscalers (Coinbase CDP, AWS, Google, Stripe) will each operate their own facilitators. Each will have implementation quirks, edge cases, and timing differences that the wire specification does not fully constrain.
Interouter's moat grows with this fragmentation, not against it:
- Institutional knowledge — accumulated handling of every facilitator's quirks (the same way AWS SDK abstracts 200+ services with quirks)
- Cross-facilitator test suite — catches divergences before sellers hit them in production
- Multi-chain parallel state aggregation — NEAR identity + EVM L2 payment rails in a single deterministic API; the x402 spec does not address multi-chain orchestration

Q2: Does a "facilitator-agnostic compatibility layer" risk fragmenting the x402 standard or conflicting with the Linux Foundation's vision?
No. Interouter does not modify the wire protocol and does not fork the x402 specification. We are strictly conformant.
Interouter operates as a complementary client-side middleware — analogous to what Axios is to the standard Fetch API. We do not replace the standard; we make it usable in real production conditions where multiple implementations diverge in non-spec-mandated edge cases.
Our engagement model with the Foundation:
- Implement the spec exactly as written
- Map and document divergences we observe across facilitators
- File issues upstream (like #2437) with reproducer evidence
- Contribute findings, never forks
This positioning makes the Linux Foundation ecosystem more stable, not less. We are infrastructure that increases adoption, not competition.
