CrateDB 4.8 fails to start on CI/GHA. Add test matrix?

Problem

On the CrateDB JDBC driver project, we discovered CrateDB 4.8 no longer starts on CI/GHA. Because we think it is using crate-java-testing in its test harness, we also wanted to report it here.

Evaluation

We can see this project does not include a test matrix to validate against different versions of CrateDB yet. Do you think it is a good idea to bring in such an improvement?
