Restore lab.5 release Rust test convergence #703

Description

@shiny-code-bot

Objective

Restore the full Rust release-test contract after upstream convergence so codex-lab-v0.1.0-lab.5 can be rehearsed and published from an exact green main commit without suppressing failures or restoring obsolete V1 behavior.

Finish Line

A validation-only codex-lab-release run passes argument-comment lint, all four macOS nextest shards, aggregate Rust CI, full release verification, signed artifact construction, and release preconditions from one immutable main SHA. The surviving tests and snapshots describe the intended Every Code product contract, and removed expectations are documented as deliberate convergence rather than hidden.

Current Status

Acceptance Criteria

  • Argument-comment lint passes on the exact release target set.
  • Local and remote exec-server CLI paths preserve --concurrent-requests and forward the selected dispatch mode.
  • V8 tests express the current sandbox-enabled product invariant without requiring nonexistent public artifacts.
  • Mandatory-MultiAgentV2 core tests and model-visible context snapshots are reconciled without restoring V1 runtime behavior.
  • CLI, app-server, MCP, external-agent, proxy, and protocol tests are reconciled to intended product contracts.
  • Stale snapshots are reviewed and accepted only after their owning behavior is classified.
  • Focused Cargo and Bazel gates pass for every staged repair.
  • A fresh validation-only codex-lab-release run is fully green from one exact main SHA.

Relationships

Decisions

  • Do not add broad lint/test suppressions.
  • Do not restore obsolete MultiAgentV1 runtime paths.
  • Prefer production behavior restoration when an owned test proves a lost Every Code edge; update/remove tests only when the old expectation is explicitly obsolete.
  • Keep each implementation PR independently reviewable and normally under 500 changed lines for complex logic.
