The Deutsche Post Leitcode barcode symbology is an implementation of the Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode that is used by German Post for mail routing.

Also known as: DHL Leitcode.

Data and Options

  • The data consists of a consecutive string of 13 or 14 numbers consisting of:
    • 5 digit postal code
    • 3 digit street identifier
    • 3 digit house number
    • 2 digit product code
    • 1 digit check digit (may be omitted)
  • If 13 digits are supplied then the check digit is calculated automatically. Otherwise the provided check digit must be correct.
