VirtualBow already has a solver for modal analysis. It is used for determining damping parameters and for verification tests.
Maybe more use cases for such an analysis could be explored. For example, the first mode shape of the braced bow, and the associated generalized mass, might reveal an approximation for the virtual mass of the limbs and string without having to do a full dynamic simulation. If that correlates reasonably well with the final arrow velocity and degree of efficiency, it might be a shortcut for design optimizations that makes evaluation of the objective function much cheaper.
