Not getting lambda metrics by using adot lambda layers for python

I have integrated by AWS lambda function written in python using python ADOT layer specified here. I am able to visualize the traces and logs but not the metrics for my lambda on my observability backend(New Relic). Only metric being generated is http.client.duration
