eventSimDict_rdict.pcm is missing

When one compiles AraSim with ROOT6, a eventSimDict_rdict.pcm is created, but somehow seems to get lost during the upload to cvmfs. It would be great if this could be fixed.

Where does that file get created (i.e. which directory)? It may be as simple as adding a line to copy it into a directory that gets uploaded to cvmfs

It should be in the AraSim directory at compile time. See the blue highlight in the attached screenclipping.

Actually, I do see it in /cvmfs/ara.opensciencegrid.org/trunk/centos7/source/AraSim/. Is it okay in that location or should it be moved somewhere else?

Huh, you're right, somehow I missed that... my bad! after a bit more testing, I think you want a copy in /cvmfs/ara.opensciencegrid.org/trunk/centos7/build/lib. You can see on this page (https://cliutils.gitlab.io/modern-cmake/chapters/packages/ROOT.html) that it says they must "sit next to" the normal library files.

Okay, cool. Should be easy enough. And there is no eventDict.rootmap, correct?

Also, hang on. Is this supposed to be eventDict or eventSimDict? I see eventDict_rdict.pcm rather than eventSimDict_rdict.pcm, but I don't see an eventSimDict.C either.

Hmm, good question. When I look at the AraSim Makefile, I only see a rule to build eventSimDict, so I don't know how the cvmfs version found instructions for eventDict...

Hmm. It looks like eventDict shows up in the Makefiles for readGeom and readTree, which also get compiled for cvmfs. Though I'm not sure why that would prevent eventSimDict from appearing too...

Because I think as part of the compilation of the dictionary it blindly wipes out any other Dict files. See the rm -f *Dict* line here:

Aha, I only had to look one line above! In that case do you know if there is an important difference between eventDict and eventSimDict? It should be possible to copy one or both into the build directory, but I'm not sure if they'd clash

I'm also seeing that libAra.so doesn't get moved to the build directory. I'm assuming that should to be copied over too

I have no idea to be honest. When I try to run code that is compiled against libAra.so it complains about eventSimDict only, so that's why I mentioned that one specifically.

And yes, it would be great if the AraSim library could be moved also. I want to rename it libAraSim.so eventually, but that's an issue for a different repo.

I guess that makes sense if libAra.so is made with the Makefile which produces eventSimDict. For now I'll set it up to copy libAra.so and eventSimDict_rdict.pcm then, and we'll see if that fixes things for you!
