[BUG] Bazzite versions past 20260605 cannot show Steam-based/gamepadui dashboard #918

Description

@walllable

Describe the bug
On versions of Bazzite past 20260605, when launching SteamVR, a dialogue box reports "vrclient Shared Lib Not Found (102) (102)," and the dashboard falls back to the dashboard pre-SteamVR 2.0. Rebasing to 20260605 fixes, or at least gets around, the issue.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Fully update Bazzite
  2. Launch Steam and open SteamVR
  3. Huzzah!
  4. Optionally, rebase to 20260605 to see it working again.

Expected behavior
The typical, Steam/webui based dashboard should appear like normal. This applies to the newest beta releases, 2.17.4 and 5, as well as stable.

System Information (please complete the following information):
Please use the latest Steam beta client and SteamVR beta for your bug reports! (done!)

  • Steam client version (build number or date): 1784145295, Tue, Jul 14, 2026 6:53 PM UTC -08:00
  • SteamVR version: 2.17.5 and previous
  • Distribution (e.g. Ubuntu): Bazzite
  • Steam runtime diagnostics: [generate via Help -> Steam Runtime Diagnostics in the Steam client] This looks way too huge to just paste here. https://pastebin.com/upetUghU
  • Steam and SteamVR logs from latest/20260713 on 2.17.5: steam-logs.tar.gz
  • Steam and SteamVR logs from 20260605: steam-logs.tar.gz
  • Minidumps from 20260713 on 2.17.4 (retested with .5, nothing in there): steam-minidumps.tar.gz
  • Other specs: RX 7800XT, Valve Index HMD, Knuckles controllers

Additional context
Added logs from 2.17.5 on 20260713.
This applies to the newest release, 2.17.4, but it does also apply to the stable (2.16.7) branch, and the actual previous release, 2.17.3. "Previous" branch just gives error 307, but not like that matters... Considering the circumstances, that I can rebase to an older release of Bazzite to get it working without any other changes to the system, I imagine this is a regression on Bazzite's side, but I doubt anyone from there is gonna help me get to the bottom of this - I figure they'd just refer back here.
