Review / test ESM generated via ESBuild

As discussed on #1500, there may be some issues with the ESM build of the UV. We should review it and make sure that it works correctly. If there is a way to automatically test it, we should consider adding more build testing to our continuous integration processes to prevent future regressions.

I have had some success testing this build using Vite. There are currently problems with the loading of icons in MediaElement which have existed since the very first 4.x release (and possibly longer -- I haven't tested any 3.x builds).

Regarding static assets: I don't think we'll be able to document this properly until UV 4.4 is released, since some bits and pieces need to be added to make everything work right. #1758 makes it possible to load the static asset from MediaElement dynamically; similar work should be added to #1696 to make the PDF.js worker similarly configurable. Once that's all done and merged, we can write something up.
