Album releases from Discogs

Hi! Awesome program, been enjoying it for a while now completing my music library and enriching its metadata.

I have ran into an 'issue' (wouldn't really call it that) where one Chet Baker has an album called Chet Is Back!, which has a missing release on MusicBrainz, which does exist on Discogs.

I was hoping the MetaMix feature would merge the releases of MusicBrainz and Discogs into one list I could choose from, but that doesn't seem to be a thing?

I could tag it as the original Italian vinyl from 1962, but the metadata nerd in me would like to correctly tag it in Lidarr as the 2005 reissue. On the other hand, I can foresee problems with automatically matching releases if there's as many reissues like that particular album has.

I have seen discussion #118 , but that doesn't seem like something a normal user would want to run nor would it fix this issue.

I suppose the question is, could/should releases from Discogs (or other providers) be fetched by MetaMix, or should I just add this release to MusicBrainz to enrich its database?

If you frame it that way, the answer's clear: add it to MusicBrainz, since that helps everyone.

MetaMix can merge albums from a Discogs artist into a MusicBrainz artist, but that matching is based on the album name. The original 1965 Chet Is Back! already exists on MB, and since the names are identical, it takes precedence over the Discogs entry. I just never accounted for reissues that are 50 years apart. So in this case, the only viable short-term options are either adding a pure Discogs artist or adding the release to MB with the appropriate tools.
