Undeadzone not working propperly.

1st issue. I set my undeadzone on both sticks to 0.24 which made my sticks idle at that value

2nd issue. Undeadzone doesnt work correctly. Instead it acts as a threshold which after crossing it starts registering input.

First, I want to thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it!

Second, to get started, why don't you try not setting a deadzone in the first place in your config file? If you cant and you already have some stick drift, try changing the STICK_DEADZONE_INNER & STICK_DEADZONE_OUTER values and see what suits you.

Thanks for replaying so quickly. I think you misunderstood my post.

I have Hall-effect joysticks in my Dualsense so my STICK_DEADZONE_INNER is really low at 0.05. I was talking about RIGHT_STICK_UNDEADZONE_INNER and LEFT_STICK_UNDEADZONE_INNER which i set to 0.24 to get rid of stupid default deadzone in Dead by Daylight. From what i know this is a feature you've added in this fork.

Actually, it isn't a feature from my fork, because if you check the original documentation here: https://github.com/Electronicks/JoyShockMapper#63-virtual-controller-gyro, it is already present.

Sadly, I haven't worked on that part of the code, but, if you have set the undeadzone to 0.24 and it gives you this drift threshold, try changing it to zero or about that?

EDIT: I misunderstood you; you are trying to set the default undeadzone to overwrite the in-game one, but instead it creates a threshold...

EDIT 2: @yawn3k, try setting a RIGHT_STICK_UNDEADZONE_OUTER as well, this might as well resolve this issue....

I will try to look into this, I am already planning a release to resolve issues #1 and #2.

Thanks! This resolved the controller idling at 0.24 but undeadzone still acts as a threshold instead of actual anti-deadzone (like the Steam Input one). I've tested setting RIGHT_STICK_UNDEADZONE_OUTER to 0.0, 0.05, 0.1 as well as 0.25 in both builds but it doesn't change anything in this regard.

I've made this little animation to show what I mean exactly by "threshold". Red point here is a rough representation of the actual stick position and white is the one generated by the JSM virtual controller.

@yawn3k, I think I get what you mean, you want the undeadzone to be set to ignore unintentional movements/to overwrite the game's undeadzone, but like the steam input shown, the undeadzone moves around with the actual movement, allowing accurate movement without a threshold, am I correct? I haven't dealt with steam before but this is what i could understand from the videos you provided...

@CoderMaximus what anti-deadzone does on Steam input (and what i assume what RIGHT_STICK_UNDEADZONE_INNER should do.) is it maps analog stick input from 0.0 - 1.0 to 0.24 - 1.0 0.24 being the example anti-deadzone value here. It lets you bypass the builtin in game deadzone. Ofc my example doesn't take into account your steam input deadzone (or STICK_DEADZONE_INNER for JSM) but i hope you get what I mean.

What RIGHT_STICK_UNDEADZONE_INNER set to 0.24 does in current build is it doesn't do that at all. Instead it makes all values below 0.24 register as 0.0. Only after 0.24 it starts registering which is similar to STICK_DEADZONE_INNER but not quite.

For example STICK_DEADZONE_INNER set to 0.05 maps 0.05 - 1.0 to 0.0 - 1.0 (Which is the correct behavior).

I'm really sorry for my lackluster explanation and English skills. English isn't my first language.
If you still don't understand and you have a controller for yourself you should try to use anti-deadzone on steam and RIGHT/LEFT_STICK_UNDEADZONE_INNER in JSM and see for yourself.

I still don't understand much about how the steam input's handler works, other than not creating a threshold and instead moving the anti-deadzone region along the analog dot/location. Anyhow, i am trying to fix this, and i will be releasing an RC2 for this issue
