Ocean accounts Phase 0: validate ACA reef extent total and confirm production API operations #159

Context: goap-oceaneez-accounts Phase 0 verification (2026-07-30).

ACA finding

  • Current EEZ product run 320f8e9b-8273-5b2c-9ed5-d0f828da9a5b sums to 440,212.598 km².
  • The 30 archived ACA regional statistics files sum broad reefextent to 423,834.796 km².
  • Their geomorphic-class rows sum to 352,145.649 km², close to ACA’s published 348,361 km². This indicates the main published-total discrepancy is a layer-definition choice: the pipeline merges Reef-Extent/reefextent.gpkg rather than the classified geomorphic area.
  • A remaining 16,377.802 km² (3.86%) product-vs-package-statistics variance needs validation. cli_dataset_aca.py concatenates regional geopackages without a cross-region deduplication step; please confirm whether region overlaps and/or the area method explain this.

Until resolved, the account app will label the output as a broad geomorphic reef-extent source boundary, show a validation caveat, and require the coral-bearing × live-cover translation.

Operational confirmations requested (non-blocking for façade-first v1)

  1. Expected timing for data.sd17.org production cutover.
  2. Confirm 50 req/s per-IP behaviour remains current.
  3. Optional: add https://accounts.spatialdataframework.org to TRUSTED_ORIGINS for future browser-direct optimisation; the v1 app uses a narrow server façade and does not depend on CORS.

The app has verified public product reads without an API key.
