Thanks, some good suggestions. Got the fixes for the guide in and moved the restart / quit to a better spot. I just didn't want people accidentally clicking on quit or restart when they went into config.

It will wait to transmit before you send when CSMA is enabled as it has to see if the channel is clear. This can sometimes be a few seconds, to less than a second depending on what settings you are using. That was likely what you were seeing.

When CSMA is OFF, it will transmit immediately, but will not handle or prevent collisions with other stations. The waiting is the cost for doing that. If you only have two stations on the same frequency, CSMA is less important, but matters for shared frequencies like repeaters or a busy simplex channel.
